Since the GENESIS solution allow to build new thematic applications related to Environment management, various categories of entities / people can benefit from the solution:
The service providers or thematic application providers ; these are the first "target" of GENESIS which they can use to provide thematic application in whatever way (development, operations; service, expertise). The GENESIS framework will support them with:
- A set of thematic-neutral generic services for rapid development of new applications
- Legacy toolbox service for easy wrapping of legacy systems into web services
- User management
- Access to catalogues and geo-databases
- Service orchestration mechanisms
- Security services
- Publication of services

Â
The thematic application users, the people who finally use the thematic applications at the end of the chain (usually they are called the end-users). The GENESIS solution will offer them:
- Access to a huge amount of shared data and services fostering the community development and synergy
- One-stop shop : use of one information system to access plenty of heterogeneous data and services
- Semantic search of services and data (including products and processing results)
- Visualization of geo-spatial information
- Invocation of processing, on selected data
- Report publishing
Moreover, the GENESIS project proposes a strategic integrated approach building on current state of the art and innovative researches of major EC or ESA projects as :
- Service Oriented Architecture derived from WIN and Orchestra FP6 projects,
- Services infrastructure derived from ESA MASS-SSE project
- Interface with EO data derived from ESA HMA harmonization project,
- Sensors networks architecture derived from SANY and OSIRIS FP6 projects,
- GMES projects like LIMES, PROMOTE, GEMS, HALO, BOSS4GMES¦
- data harmonization in relation with INSPIRE, FP6 HUMBOLDT and RISE projects.
