The technology integration activity is devoted to design, development and validation tasks of the services and tools that will constitute the GENESIS Software. It consists in generic (thematic-neutral) software components and toolkits and is accompanied with the necessary software documentation. The preliminary taxonomy of the services proposed by GENESIS comprises the following service categories:

• Discovery services for services, sensors, EO datasets and GIS datasets.
• Data access services for EO data, in-situ data, GIS data and non-geo data.
• Geo-information and decision support services including data fusion services, geo-information services, service orchestration services, decision support services and communication services.
• User management services including services for authentication, authorization and user registration.
• Human interaction services.

The services that are provided comprise the server-side software as well as the client side software also integrated into portal portlets.

An Application Toolkit will be developed to instantiate and configure a GENESIS thematic information system. Each service class will follow a specification, development and validation lifecycle.
