The sub project 5000 on New Technology Assessment of the GENESIS project has finished its work by the end of the second project period (August 2010). The main objectives of this sub project were the assessment of the state of the art, the improvement of existing technologies and the development of new ones as well as the preparation of prototypes and demonstrators that could be transferred to the sub project 6000 (technology integration).

Achievements

The following items are some of the achievements made:

• Sensor Discovery Framework: a web service framework for the discovery of sensors and sensor services.

• Eventing and Event Processing techniques: mechanisms and techniques for push-based and asynchronous communication, dissemination of notifications and processing of events and event streams.

• Contribution to the GEOSS AIP-3 pilots: demonstration of components developed in GENESIS in the scope of the GEOSS pilot 3
